Oops, I Did It Again
Every little kid has some dreams. Most of them are abandoned when you grow up - most people, at their thirties, find themselves in a life which is not what they expected when they where, say, 8 years old.
For many, the spouse isn’t exactly the prince or princess they imagined; the work isn’t precisely what they had in mind; the family. friends. everything - it is nice, but different. Romantic and naive dreams are abandoned (at worst) or modified (at most cases) according to reality. Thw world, it seems, is not exactly what you read as a kid in adventure books, neither what you see as a teenager on the television. Life is stronger, and carries you to unexpected directions, and this is probably how it should be.
I consider myself a very lucky person. I have the ability to fulfil many of my old dreams. I took, for example, a year long journey around the world and visited many of the exotic places that’s in it. It has a price, of course: I gave away job security, put my career on hold, got away from my friends, and jumped into the water. It was entirely worth it.
Today I took another move in that direction. As a kid, I never dreamt of finding myself in the kind of work that I did for the last year. Not that it’s bad, but it’s not exactly me, and I can do things that better suit my character, interest me and fit my skills. Namely, I can study. It is not easy, and the reward is generally not materialistic, but it’s what I like.
Two years ago, I gave away job security. Today I throw the big money behind my back. I am going back to the academy, to start my doctorate studies.
I just resigned from work.

It is still reverseable - go back for the money!
Stam , good luck in your new way!
You can never know what’s right or wrong in life - only years later you might know what’s right.

Well, it seems to me that you are doing the right thing , if you can find a way to support yourself financially. Most of us are trapped in jobs and lives that we have no courage to change.
Lots of success,
Gali (Elina’s cousin from NL)
