Plenty of Nothing
Darwin is a lovely city, and I just decided to stay here a few days and rest a bit after the last few days. So I spent the day doing lots of nothing, and really enjoyed it.
In the morning I found at the hostel’s kitchen two Israeli girls, Shani and Ortal, and we spent most of the day together - in the morning we walked to some hostels to leave ads about lifters (they are going to the west, so it is irrelevant for me); then we did some shopping and I cooked us a nice lunch (here is something you might want to try - especially Oded: cook the pasta normally, and put for the sauce all the usual stuff - zuccini, garlic, onion, mushrooms, capsicum, whatever you have in the kitchen; but instead of tomato sause add sour cream and stir for a minute or two. The result is a really nice white sauce. I emphasize you should use sour cream, and not the sweet one. Gives an entirely different twist to the dish.).
We arrived to the national library, which is located in the parliament house. Here they had a security measure - they radiated my bag and indeed found my victorinox knife inside it. The only thing is, that they looked at it, asked me about it, and than said it is all right and let me in with the knife. Australians can still learn a bit more about security.
The library is very nice (as you probably know, I really love libraries). Moreover, it has free internet access in it - and since no backpacker ever enters a library, it is not crouded and I can use it (as I am doing right now), if I only restrict myself to the opening hours.
In between, I also found out there’s a fringe festival going on Darwin this weekend, so I will probably go and see a show or two later today or preferrably tommorow - like I said, today I had a really nice time doing nothing, and now I am going to the warf to look at the sunset.
