Day of Preparations

It is always useful to keep a doctor at home.

Yesterday I got sick. Just a flue, but in a bad timing: I really want to be healthy in my little PNG adventure. So I called home, and my father told me just what medicine to take (I carry enough antibiotics to kill a small herd of elephants) and indeed today I feel much better.

Feeling that better enabled me to continue my preparations to PNG, which is what I did most of the day - after saying farewell to Roey and Alex, who are now on their way to Thailand: enjoy the East, guys! I had my hair cut (not that I really needed it, but it just feels better). I changed some money (Rosemary, the nice woman who arranged my visa, also told me where to exchange the money - and indeed her man gave me a much better exchange rate from the bank, and unlike the bank took no commision at all. That woman really is wondeful.), and I bought a new pair of travel pants, instead the one that tore apart (don’t buy the israeli ‘Atztek’ firm. They don’t last long).

After buying the pants I had the most interesting meeting of the day: I went to a woman that does all sorts of fixes to cloths, just to fit the length and to add an internal safety pocket for my passport in the new pants. It turned out that this woman - named Sonia - is originally from Chile. So we had a nice chat in Spanish about Travels, Chile, PNG and life in general. It was really neat - brushing my spanish a bit after all this English!

Beside that, I prepared some ads, saying that I’m looking for travelers to go with me after I return from PNG, and spent some time hanging them in various hostels. I also managed to read a few more about Papua - it should be a really amazing place, and it seems that they love Israelies - I hope this is really true!
